THE LIGHT

Some songs know things before you do. In 2012, I wrote a confession disguised as devotion - "She is the light, she is the way" - doctrine for the unreachable, the forbidden, the theoretical. The breakdown was fantasy, vivid and sordid and impossible. Written in synthetic light, waiting in the dark. Over a decade later. The song inverted. "I am the light, I am the way." The worshipper became the worshipped. What was imagined became real. This was a story, as yet untold. The light knew where it was going all along.
